Green Investing Opportunities

Solar Power

At this point there is a good chance you’ve had someone knock on your door to talk to you about the benefits of solar power (unless you live somewhere like Seattle where I grew up). There are opportunities to invest in companies that manufacture panels, sell panels and installation, and even just make components for the panels. An ETF like The Invesco Solar ETF (TAN) will include many different companies.

Wind Energy

Did you know that wind energy production today is over 75 times as prevalent as it was 20 years ago. If investing in wind energy interests you consider looking at wind farms, or companies that make the windmills and components. The First Trust Global Wind Energy ETF (FAN) is a passive way to invest in wind energy.

Pollution

If your biggest concern is simply reducing pollution period, you can look at investing in companies and technology that focus on trying to cut down on pollution. They employ their services and technologies far and wide from factories to your car. The Invesco Cleantech ETF (PZD) is another passive option to invest in this sector.

Water

With so much time and attention paid to cleaning up the air, we often forget that we still need to be doing what we can to preserve our most precious resource…water. There are opportunities to invest in companies that collect, purify, nd distribute water throughout the world. If choosing stocks doesn’t interest you there are several mutual funds and ETFs that focus on water. The Invesco Global Water Portfolio ETF (PIO) is one of these.
